Are Dodge 1500 4×4 parts compatible for 1998 to 2001?

Now, normally I would think a salvage yard was trying to dupe me if they told me something like that but he didn't try to get me to buy a part from him, just told me to go ahead and buy the older model parts. Salvage yards are fairly accurate but a parts house would know better. Compare part numbers. Maybe the newer ones are made with a different steel alloy.
